I'm absolutely fine with swearing. I swear all the time.

What gets to me is when the swearing is directed to me or to someone else. Usually me and everyone in my guild curse objects and events. For exapmle how this weekend event has turned out to be acomplete assload of bullsh!t. But we never really direct it at people.... Except for those damn Luxons and noobs.

1. People who curse.
2. People who force limits to others on what words they can use.

Yeah, I like the folks in the first group more.

There's nothing wrong with "foul language" in chat. If you don'twant to read something foul or offensive, turn your filter on.

I love the chat filter in this game. If someone wants to swear they can, and I don't have to see it. The best part is that they can see the swear words and don't try to get around the filter. Its people who bypass on purpose that kind of make me sad.

Either way, people being able to say what they want is a CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT, no matter in what country or culture (save China) you live in!!! AS it is YOUR right to not listen if you decide to....and there you go, Anet gave us the chat filter to fulfill these rights.
Your constitutional right to free speech does not extend to private property. Since you're playing on A.net's servers they can choose to censor whatever and whomever they want.

That said the OP's idea is still amazingly horrible, and I'm glad that A.net will never implement any such thing.

Mind explaining why anyone would care about swearing in a game that has the chat filter set to 'on' as default?

Interesting that you think that people disagreeing with you are 'flaming' you. You must be really sensitive. I can only wonder what type of place you live.

You're sad that no one supports your little fascist (for a lack of a better word) ideal where people are punished for swearing (may as well give damage bonuses to everyone that says 'please', 'thanks', and 'good job!').

Personally, I'm thrilled.

There's something I've wanted to understand for a while now. People want censorship of swear words. Now the word is said but bleeped or filtered out somehow. It doesn't change that it was said, it doesn't erase the thought from the receiver's mind. They know the word was said, they know which word was said.

How does a bleep or a ---- make everything better? Because the sound of the cuss word actually hurts their ears? Does the sound make their brain do flips? Put them into convultions? Epileptic seizures? Jesus Christ people, I'd say the ones who want filters are the ones who need to grow up. They're sticking their fingers in their ears and yelling to try and drown out reality.

Get real people. Seriously.

I could only wish ALL games had such a 'karma' thing. Perhaps the younger sorts would eventually learn that that sort of language is unpleasant.

Agreed, but GW wasts all the money they can make, they want the nasty and the nice, the rude and the crude, anyone with the money to buy is welcome.

To all those thinking they got to me, told me off, or made me feel bad.. feh, like anything you have to say matters.. LOL

that would be like turning a game into a dictatorship, dictating to someone what they have to do all the times does not work..you just have to watch the tv to see that

freedom of speech is a god given right..swearing is just a slightly barbaric <sp?> way of communicating
